Chequered Cowl
‘A checkered cowl with a simple textured stitch pattern made from knit and purl stitches’

The cowl shows how only two two stitches: knit and purl can create an interesting textured surface. There are photo-illustrated guides to the provisional cast on and three needle bind off methods (youtube videos describe the Kitchener stitch well).

MATERIALS
2 50g balls of West Yorkshire Spinners Elements DK (pictured in golden sands) or other DK yarn
A pair of 3.75mm knitting needles
A crochet hook (provisional cast on)
A tapestry needle

An additional 3.75mm knitting needle is required if the three needle bind off technique is used instead of the Kitchener stitch.
