Crochet Chess Royals King and Queen Amigurumi Pattern – No sewing!

If you are anything like me, you will appreciate the fact that this is a chess amigurumi pattern without sewing! The figures are worked from the bottom up in one piece – absolutely no sewing included!

The finished size depends on the yarn you are using, with the suggested 8/4 cotton yarn the sizes are:

King

Height: 25 cm / 9.8 inches
Width: 8 cm / 3.15 inches

Queen

Height: 22 cm / 8.7 inches
Width: 7.5 cm / 3 inches

You need to know basic stitches, increasing, decreasing, and working on back loops and front loops. Also, the pattern includes basic tapestry crochet.

Yarn usage:

Depends on the yarn. Suggested: 160 m / 175 yards of 8/4 cotton per figure. 2 different colors.

Other materials:

• Hook: 2.5mm hook (or one that matches your yarn)
• Toy stuffing
• A piece of plastic/cardboard/etc. (size of the figure’s bottom) and scissors to cut it
• Tapestry needle (just for weaving the ends – no sewing!)
• Stitch markers or a small piece of other color yarn

Notes:

The pattern uses 8/4 cotton yarn (fingering/superfine) and a 2.5mm hook.

Any yarn is fine but remember that yarn impacts the size of the finished figure. Also, the amount needed varies based on the yarn. Choose a hook size that fits the yarn you are using.
