The Children’s Trapper Toque uses short rows to create earflap and two different stitches to create texture.

Although the pattern calls for circular needles, it can be knit using double pointed needles throughout if preferred.

Materials
1 skein Lana Grande by Cascade Yarn - 100% Peruvian Highland Wool
1 US 13 (9mm) 16-inch (or shorter) circular needles - or size required to obtain gauge
4 US 13 (9mm) double pointed needles - or size required to obtain gauge
1 stitch marker
1 tapestry needle to sew in loose ends

Sizes
Newborn: head circumference up to 14 inches.
Toddler: head circumference 14 - 17 inches.
Child: head circumference 16 - 20 inches.
Adult: head circumference 20 - 22 inches.

Abbreviations
k = knit
k2tog knit two sts together = knit 2 stitches at the same time, as one would normally knit one stitch
p = purl
st(s) = stitches
w&t = wrap and turn. Keeping the yarn in back, slip the next stitch purlwise from the left needle to the right needle. Bring the yarn forward as if to purl. Slip the stitch from the right needle back to the left needle. Bring the yarn to the back of the work as if to knit. Turn the work and bring the yarn to the back of the work, ready to knit.
