The inspiration for this hat came from the Shetland Haaf cap which has a plain lining. This one has a hem so is provisionally cast on and knit in white before a turn row and then into the pattern chart. This means there is no rib at the base of the cap. The yarn used is very soft and smooth so is suitable for the hem lining. It is slightly finer than Jamieson’s and Smith 2ply jumper weight (equivalent to a standard 4ply) so if you substitute with that it will come out quite a bit bigger. The hat took approximately 19grams of White, 6grams of Auld Gold, 6 grams of Peat, 7 grams of Berry Wine, 6 grams of Madder and 5 grams of Indigo.
