Chinook Pullover

This is an amazing sweater, I am not even really sure how it came to be, other than I really enjoyed this fluffy, soft and amazing Alpaca/Merino blend and knew it had to be something special.

I love cables, Norah Gaughan, is my hero. She is amazing, teaching us the basic twists and turns of cabled knitting. She really was my inspiration in this knit.

Manipulating this cable was really innovative, and I really went with the flow. Changing its shape but keeping the continuance of it was challenging but I think in the end it worked out beautifully. I hope you find the twists cohesive and addicting as I did.
Shown in pictures in size M on a 36 bust

Notes about Construction:

Knitted flat, without waist shaping with front and back knitted separately. Shoulders have minimal shaping using short rows.
With 2x2 ribbing on the bottom trim. The rib grows into the centered cables, as they are carried seamlessly into the collar.
Dropped sleeves are casual and easy to attach, but also easily customizable.
The ribbed neck is knitted last after all pieces are assembled by picking up stitches along the neck edge and feeding the cable stitches at the same time, giving the neck a seamless and polished look.

Fit:
Meant to fit with zero ease/slight positive ease at bust but slack in the waist. The arms are bracelet length when the neck is stretched slightly over the shoulders. Otherwise the neck is wide with a ¾ length sleeve.

Tools needed:
• size US 4 (3.5 mm) and size US 6 (4mm) needles, preferable circular 32 or 34 or 36 inch, as you need to carry a lot of stitches on.
• Cable needle
• Darning needles to seam

Gauge: on size 6 US needles in a blocked stockinette swatch
24st /33 rows in a 10cm/4 inch

Yarn used: Rowan Alpaca Merino DK in color Saxon.

I think Rowan is discontinuing this particular yarn, however substitutions can be made with any dk weight yarn.
