The CHLOE SWEATER is an oversized, bottom-up, modified drop-shoulder design, created with a focus on comfort and effortless wear. Elevating the classic drop shoulder style, it features thoughtful details like slight shoulder and armhole shaping, enhancing its fit and wearability. This attention to detail, combined with two collar options - a V-neck and a Crew-neck, transforms it from a basic knit into a refined piece that’s infinitely wearable and perfect for any occasion. Inspired by my favourite store-bought sweater, which quickly became a wardrobe staple, this design captures that same sense of relaxed ease in a hand-knit garment. For the first two samples, I selected unspun Nutiden yarn from Höner och Eir, held double, aiming for the ultimate in lightweight comfort and cosiness. This choice resulted in a rustic and exceptionally soft sweater with an outstanding warmth-to-weight ratio. The pattern is versatile and adaptable to any preferred spun or unspun yarn, or a combination of yarns, as long as they meet the gauge.

Sizing
Please choose a size 18-33 cm larger than your actual chest circumference. The samples in the photos are in size 2 with 29 cm positive ease.

You can choose from 9 size-inclusive, unisex sizes, with finished chest circumferences of:

103 (113) 123 (133) 143 (153) 163 (173) 183 cm

A schematic with comprehensive measurements is included in the knitting pattern.

Recommended Yarn
Höner och Eir - Nutiden (unspun yarn, comes in plates of ~100 g ~ 530 m) - colourways ‘Bergtagen’ (Sample 1) and ‘Vägen Hem’ (Sample 2), held double:

2255 (2465) 2650 (2730) 2890 (3100) 3340 (3500) 3710 m or

425 465 500 515 545 585 630 660 700 g.

Yarn Substitutes
Any unspun yarn held double, such as Ístex Plötulopi or Wooldreamers Manchelopi, or any aran to worsted weight yarn that meets the gauge. Please note that for results similar to the original samples, it is best to use unspun or non-superwash woollen spun yarns. These yarns are lighter and can maintain the oversized look of the garment without adding extra weight. On the other hand, using worsted spun yarn will result in a heavier garment. Since worsted spun yarns are denser, they might lead to a garment that stretches under its own weight, especially when designed to be oversized.

Yarn (Aran/ Worsted)
Ístex - Léttlopi (100% New Wool, 50 g = 100 m):

950 (1050) 1110 (1175) 1215 (1290) 1380 (1445) 1540 m.

Gauge
The gauge for the stockinette stitch is 16 stitches and 24 ronds per 10 cm, worked with a 4.0 mm needle, after blocking.

The swatch should be worked in the round.

Needles
3.5 mm and 4.0 mm 60-120 cm circular needles and/or DPNs.

Please note: This is a suggestion. Nutiden colourway densities vary, so use larger needles for thinner blends or when combining a single unspun strand with lace-weight yarn.

Notions
Stitch markers, a locking marker, stitch holders, a tapestry needle, waste yarn to sew down the folded collar, measuring tape, and scissors.
