Christmas is such an exciting time of the year. Festive music, fairy lights, setting up the tree with the family, the smell of gingerbread wafting through the air. Gifts lovingly wrapped under a sparkly Christmas tree, the sound of laughter all around.

Christmas is also a special time for those of us who love to create handmade heirloom pieces that will decorate our homes for years to come.

Here are five gorgeous designs for ornaments created with Tunisian Crochet or made in the Tunisian-crochet style. Make a gift wrapped in a ribbon and adorned with a tiny crochet flower. Whip up a cute and simple heart design that’s perfect for Christmas and all year round! Enjoy the linked double crochet stitch as you create a tiny wreath with embroidered holly berries. Create a bunch of fun and very quick, classic candy canes. And make a jar full of delicious looking Christmas sweets with exciting colourwork techniques. (This one is the most challenging pattern out of the five.)

Each design can be made in under 45 minutes, or a little longer while you’re learning the techniques.

These are the perfect portable projects for this time of year when you most likely have more on your plate than usual.

Clear instructions are given to make a garland using these beautiful Christmas designs. You could also choose to make them as separate tree decorations, add them to gifts and cards, make an Advent Calendar with them or wear your favourite one as a brooch. Another great idea would be to cover a Christmas wreath with a number of these little delights.

Finished size:
These ornaments are all a cute size when made with the suggested yarn and hook.
They range from 5 x 5cm for the heart, wreath and gift to 9 x 3.5cm for the candy cane and 6 x 2.5cm for the lollies.

Can’t wait to see you put your personal creative stamp on the five designs!

Lots of love, Joy xx
