This mitten pattern is created to help sales of locally produced yarn for the Ontario Sheep farms. I had the idea after visiting Topsy Farm in Kingston, Ontario.
The pattern is based on the traditional Fairisle/stranded work technique, based on Nordic mitten design.

Yarn
Fingering weight-Non-superwash wool will produce a felted look over time.
Samples Used Topsy Farms Fingering weight
(400m/100g)
Dark Brown (MC) 45 g
Natural/Cream (CC1) 20 g
Light brown/Oatmeal (CC2) 30 g
Black/Charcoal (CC3) 5 g

Note on choosing colors: I chose neutral
tone on tone to make the entire mitten variation
of natural colors. However, you can choose 1 MC and 1 CC to make all sheep the same color.
e.g., Darker brown with natural/off-white. If you choose to do just white sheep, it is always fun to
add just one black sheep (you need to incorporate the INTARSIA technique for this), we all need
that troublesome one black sheep in our lives :).

NEEDLES
2.5mm and/or 2.75mm DPN or
2.5mm and/or 2.75mm circular needles, long enough to do “Magic Loop”

SIZE
ONE SIZE (adult)
The pattern is written in just one size. Working with a 2.5mm needles entirely will produce adult women’s size. Changing the needle to 2.7mm needles after the cuff will produce adult men’s size.

Tension/Gauge
3x3 rib 32st x 46row
Fairisle 28st x 32row

note: Thank you for your overwhelming response and encouragement in launching the pattern.
If you purchase yarns and/or a kit from Topsy Farms, it will come with the QR code for free download of the pattern since it was designed to promote Ontario wool.
