This is not your traditional pattern where you go down, pick a size, and follow the specific directions for that one size. No, this pattern is written to teach you how to create a basic beanie based on your crochet style and sizing needs. Everyone crochets differently. Personally, I have found patterns that require you to meet a certain gauge difficult to do since I tend to crochet tightly. Because of this, I wanted to create a pattern for all crocheters that adapts to your personal crochet style, your personal choice of yarn, and your skill level to give you a basic beanie to work with. You can wear this beanie as-is or use it as a base for your creativity by adding monster eyes, unicorn horns, funky colors of yarn, or whatever your imagination can dream of. This pattern is more to teach you how to increase rounds to the correct measurement for a variety of sizes before adding rounds for height, and then giving it a nice finished edge.

Recommended Yarn:
Weight 6 Super Bulky yarn: I used Yarn Bee True Colors for the beanies in the pictures, but any Super Bulky yarn can be used. You can also use a Weight 5 bulky yarn, but this will require you to add additional rounds of increases and when adding height.

Gauge and Sizing:
Gauge is not that important as you will measure your progress along the way to find your desired size.

Stitches:
Pattern is written in US Crochet terms.
MC – magic circle
SLST – slip stitch
CH – chain
JOIN – join each round with a SLST
HDC – half double crochet
SC – single crochet
