Classic Slouchy Beanie
An easy and beginner friendly slouchy beanie pattern. If you know the basic crochet stitches you should be able to make this pattern without any issues.
-
The beanie is made in the round from the top down and uses a simple increase of 12 stitches per round.
-
If yarn used is unavailable check YarnSub for alternatives, but any DK/Light 3 yarn that uses a 4mm hook should work.
I chose the Stylecraft Special DK in the mixed colourway usually listed as ‘Extra Special’ because of its soft drape and nubby texture. With this yarn the beanie is light but cosy. You will only need one skein and it uses about half so if you do use a different yarn look for one that offers a similar amount of yards/meters.
The fit is loose and oversized. It is designed to be pulled over hair and ears. Although, you can wear it anyway you choose,
You can adjust the length by reducing the amount of rounds or make it even slouchier by adding rows.
A note on sizing:
I’ve not adjusted to any other than standard adult heads 21.5in - 23in, however, you can try reducing the amount of increase rows for teens and children.
UK and US crochet terms available.
