Clear Shining is a lace shawl which includes Estonian gathered stitches and nupps. All the twists and turns in the lace echoed the difficulties and sleepless nights of the past few years for me. The shawl was called The Somnambulist all through the design process, and went through several versions before I was happy with it. But then when I saw this version blocked, I knew it needed a new name. I hope you like it.

It can be larger or smaller, and it can be a square, knitted in the round, or a triangle, knitted back and forth. Every other row is plain knitting or purling, so there are rest rows. The main lace motif is repeated two or three times depending on the size of the shawl. The Estonian stitches I have used include nupps, k2togfb, and k3togm3. The last of these is also called a gathered 3 stitch, or star stitch.

Requirements
2ply laceweight yarn. I used Fyberspates Gleem 800m/100g, in Lundy Island colour, and made a large triangle. I have calculated approximate amounts for other sizes based on this. I also used a Hedgehog Fibres Merino Lace 1200m/100g in Salty Tales colour, with 2.00mm, US 0 needles, which made a 1m large square with 11g left over.
2.75mm, US 2 needles, or your preferred needle for a laceweight yarn.
Stitch markers. In the instructions they are just used to define corners and edges of the lace panels, not repeats in the lace pattern itself.
Wool needle to darn in the ends.
Wires or pins to block to shape.
