Wavy curves of traditional Shetland lace motif - accentuated by contrasting stripes - flow between surrounding garter stitch. Coastline is worked top down starting from the neck with garter tab cast on. Increases are made on both sides for a crescent shape shawl.

The overall look of this accessory depends on your chosen colour combo. Choose calm colours for a truly timeless piece, or go wild with bold statement colours.

You can also get Coastline in the Wanderlust Knits collection.

YARN
Two colours of fingering weight yarn.

Shown with OMD Merino Light in colours My grandmother’s favorite waste of time was to rewrite her will over and over (MC) and White trash (CC).

AMOUNT OF YARN NEEDED
Main colour (MC): 315 m / 344 yds
Contrast colour (CC): 267 m / 292 yds

This shawl is worked flat but I recommend using an 80-100 cm / 32-40 inch circular needle to accommodate the growing number of stitches.
