About this Design
I wouldn’t call myself much of a gambler but I was happy to take a bet when I was working on this design. I bet myself that I could create a simple reversible motif using front and back post stitches. And then, once I’d won that bet with myself, that I would make myself something gorgeous with the motif. My winning design was the Coinflip Scarf, which I’m now releasing into the crafting community in the hope that others will take a bet on it and also produce something lovely to complement their wardrobes.

Like many of my crochet designs, this one can be used as a stash buster project that uses up all those little bits of lovely 4-ply/fingering weight yarn left over from other projects. The design also uses as “join-as-you-go” assembly method and I have included diagrams to provide a detailed description of how to join your motifs.

Yarn
This design requires a range of colours in fingering/4 ply weight yarn and the yarn amounts needed for each colour will vary from project to project. For a single square, you will need:

• 2.14 metres/2.3 yards for the centre disc.
• 4.5 metres/5 yards for the edge of the square.

The finished Coinflip Scarf contains 128 completed square units, which means that you will need a total of:

• 270 metres/295 yards for all the centre discs.
• 585 metres/640 yards for all the square edges.

The sample Coinflip Scarf used a total of 14 colours, all drawn from leftovers in my 4 ply/fingering weight stash (5 shades of orange, including some variegated orange, 7 shades of grey ranging from pale grey to dark charcoal grey and purple as the main colour). The main colour is Indigo Dragonfly Merino Silk 4 ply/fingering (50% superwash merino/50% silk) in colour way Flow to Drain Your Flagon.
