The Cold Foam Pullover is a saddle shoulder pullover with a simple construction. The mixing of yarn types here lets you play with texture while still seeing the richness of your main color.

This sweater is knit top-down starting with the shoulder patches. The back and front are then picked up and worked flat, then connected at the underarm. The rest of the body and arms are worked in the round.

Sizes: This sweater is meant to be worn with around 10” of positive ease, meaning it’s quite oversized. If you are between sizes, I would recommend choosing the smaller size or the size with your desired amount of ease/sleeve circumference/yoke depth.

1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9) to fit a bust circumference of 28-30 (32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46) (48-50, 52-54, 56-58, 60-62)”/71-76 (81-86, 91-97, 102-107, 112-117) (122-127, 132-137, 142-147, 152-157) cm

Finished bust measurement: 38 (42, 46, 50, 53) (58, 62, 66, 70)”/97 (107, 117, 127, 135) (147, 157, 168, 178) cm

Finished upper arm measurement: 16 (16, 17, 18, 19) (20, 22, 24, 25)”/41 (41, 43, 46, 48) (51, 56, 61, 64) cm

Finished Yoke Depth: 8 (8.5, 9, 10, 10.5) (11, 11.5, 12, 12.5)”/20 (22, 23, 25, 27) (28, 29, 30, 32) cm

Suggested Yarn: DK weight yarn for the main color and textured DK weight yarn for the contrast color.

The yarn shown in the sample pictured here is:

Kenya’s Knits Marshmallow DK Select (100% Fine Superwash Merino Wool 21.5 mic.) in Cupressa.
Kenya’s Knits Teddy DK (100% Fine Merino Wool 21.5 mic.) in Rambi.

Yardage:
Total yardage estimates: 759 (821, 893, 963, 1018) (1109, 1181, 1258, 1321) yds/694 (751, 817, 881, 931) (1014, 1080, 1150, 1208) m. This includes additional yardage for swatching.

Main Color yardage: 591 (641, 701, 746, 789) (868, 916, 969, 1008) yds/540 (586, 641, 682, 721) (794, 838, 886, 922) m.

Contrast Color/Textured yarn yardage: 168 (180, 192, 217, 229) (241, 265, 289, 313) yds/154 (165, 176, 198, 209) (220, 242, 264, 286) m

Gauge:
Main Color: 18 sts x 28 rows/rounds = 4x4”/10x10 cm in stockinette, worked in the round/flat and blocked.

Contrast (textured yarn) color: 15 sts x 18 rows/rounds = 4x4”/10x10 cm in garter, worked in the round/flat and blocked. The gauge for your CC is less important, as the pattern is oversized and mainly uses the MC gauge. As long as your stitch count isn’t too drastically different from your MC, it should be fine and will only add to the ripply oversized effect.

Suggested Needles:
Body needles: US 7/4.5mm circular needles and/or DPNs, or needles needed to obtain gauge.

Ribbing needles: US 6/4mm circular needles and/or DPNs, or needles one size smaller than body needles.

Materials: Stitch markers, spare circular needles or scrap yarn, tapestry needle.

Techniques: You will need to know how to knit, purl, knit in the round, slip slip knit, knit 2 together, and pick up and knit.
