Comfort & Joy is a fairisle style beanie in two adult sizes, regular and large.

Materials
I opted to make it with 9 shades of Shetland yarn (you could use more!) but also tried just two shades of merino blend sock yarn - both work well.

Skill Level - Intermediate
The corrugated rib interlocks with the main body design and the increases need to be carefully placed - and in the correct colour - as they form part of the design. The crown is shaped with standard centre double decreases.
There is a small amount of hand finishing with Swiss darning - although you could simply knit them in your contrast colour if you prefer.
There are also use two types of jogless join.

It wasn’t until I had made the first one that I realised the motifs resembled old fashioned Victorian christmas tree decorations, hence the name, which is from the chorus of one of my favourite carols.
With a little imagination there are swags of tinsel, strings of fairy lights and paperchains - even the arms of the tree feature in the crown!

I hope you enjoy making it and please pop back and add your project so we can all see it. And don’t forget to use the hashtag #comfortandjoyhat when you share your pics
