Christmas blanket which has the large friendly greeting of Have a Cool Yule emblazed on it. Add in the festive trees, stylised snowflakes and baubles, this is perfect afghan for the holiday season. Snuggle under it or use it as part of your decorations by throwing it over the sofa or a chair. Gift it to a special someone to say Happy Christmas Holidays in a new way!

The pattern is in two separate PDF files, one is written in UK terminology and the second is written in US terminology. It is 33 pages long and in full colour with photo tutorials comprising no fewer than 37 instructional photographs walking you through everything. Charts (with X’s are included for more experienced crocheters - you do not need to be able to read charts to use the pattern, every row is written out in full). The pattern is written in English.

The pattern makes a blanket measuring 36 in x 59 in (91 x 150 cm), but helpful tips included on how to make it wider are included (46 stitch pattern repeat). The length may be varied by adding or omitting sections.

Overlay mosaic technique is used throughout the body of the blanket. Two colours are alternated, one colour per row. A full explanation of how to work overlay mosaic crochet stitches is contained within the pattern but visual learners may wish to familiarise themselves with the two specialised stitches in advance of purchase by viewing them on one of the many videos available on YouTube.

The only stitches which may not be familiar to are:

UK:
dc-blo double crochet back loop only
tr-flo treble crochet front loop only

US:
sc-blo single crochet back loop only
dc-flo double crochet front loop only

The pattern also includes a detailed tutorial on how to make the double border shown on the blanket. The border tidies up all the yarn tails left over at the end of the work so there are only five ends to sew in even though I’ve used so many colours!

If you are a beginner with a little experience, the technique is easy to learn and I am always available by e-mail to help, just message me. I generally don’t do videos for my patterns but the included photographic tutorials are very comprehensive.

I have used Stylecraft Special DK for the blanket photographed, if you would like to make a blanket exactly the same you will need:
3 x 100g Claret
3 x 100g White
2 x 100g Sage
2 x 100g Bottle
1 x 100g Hint of Silver

A typical hook to use is 4mm (G). You may have to adjust hook size to achieve the correct gauge.
