Coral Reefs is a two-colour asymmetrical triangular shawl. It is knit on a bias and shaped with decreases along one side and increases along the other side at different rates to reduce stitch count as you progress. A slightly curved shape occurs naturally as a result of different tension between the selvedge stitches and the shawl’s body stitch patterns. The knitting starts at the wide side of the shawl and finishes at the opposite end with a few remaining stitches.

In this shawl both colours are used in the selvage stitches that were specifically invented for the two-colour shawls offered in the Island Knit Design pattern store. The garter stitch pattern sections alternate with the contrast colour eyelet rows sections for added visual interest and to keep the knitting fun. This shawl, of course, can be easily turned into a single colour project simplifying the task, if a knitter prefer.

The pattern includes written and charted instructions.
