This is a simple clutch bag, worked in rows and written using UK crochet terminology. The bag is worked as a flat rectangle, and then the bottom third folded up to form the main part of the bag. The top then folds down to make the fastening flap. The stitch pattern makes for a dense fabric, perfect for ensuring nothing falls out through gaps in the stitching. This pattern is suitable for beginner crocheters.

Materials

3mm crochet hook
180m of sport weight yarn. This pattern was designed using Scheepjes Stone Washed in Blue Apatite.
Fabric for lining (optional)
Magnetic fastening clasp (optional)

Gauge and sizing

25 stitches and 23 rows per 10cm/4in in stitch pattern.
Gauge is very adaptable for this project, but I would recommend ensuring your fabric is dense enough to prevent anything slipping through.

Final size when sewn and closed is approximately 21cmx11cm, but this is easily adjustable to make larger/smaller as necessary.
