Cosy Kitchen Poncho
INTRODUCTORY OFFER - 40% discount will automatically be applied at checkout until midnight Fri 28th Nov GMT.
This poncho was designed with chilly days in mind, to be worn around the house keeping you super-cosy as you go about your day. Worked top-down in the round, the main body of the poncho is worked in garter stitch. It features 4 simple cable panels. This design is very flexible – there are tips at the end of the pattern including suggestions for making a cowl instead, and altering the neck style.
Skills required: Cast on, working in the round using dpns and circular needle, knit, purl, yarn over, simple cable stitches, p2tog, p2tog tbl, cast off.
Suitable for advanced beginner/intermediate knitters.
SIZING
To choose your size, measure your shoulder width (from one shoulder tip straight across your back neck to the other shoulder tip).
- Neck circumference (unstretched): 16(18,20)“/40.5(46,51)cm
- To fit shoulder width up to: 15.5(17,18.5)“/39.5(43,47)cm
- Actual shoulder width of garment: 16(17.5,19)“/40.5(44.5,48.5)cm
TENSION/GAUGE
4”/10cm = 15 sts and 30 rows over garter stitch on 5.5mm needles
YARN
You will need approximately 435(514,580)yds/399(470,530)m of chunky/bulky weight yarn.
For the purple poncho (size 1), I used 3 x 100g skeins of Coara Rope yarn (70% BFL/30% Shetland; 145yds/133m per 100g) from Shilasdair Yarns.
