Warum in die Ferne schweifen, wenn das Gute liegt so nah, fragt ein bekanntes Gedicht von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. So erging es mir beim Besuch des empfehlenswerten Woll-Geschäftes „Mom´s Knitting“ im Lissabonner Stadteil Alvalade. Direkt vor dem Geschäft findet sich ein einfaches, aber sehr schönes Pflaster-Muster der Calçada Portuguesa. Das musste unbedingt auf meinen neuen Strümpfe. Sieht es nicht toll aus? Und strickt sich so einfach!

“Why wander far afield when the good lies so near?” – This line by the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe resonated with me when I visited the wonderful yarn shop “Mom’s Knitting” in the Lisbon district Alvalade. The pavement right in front of the shop is made up of a simple but beautiful pattern of the Calçada Portuguesa. I simply had to put it into my new socks. Isn’t it pretty? And so easy to knit, too!
