The Cressid Socks are knitted with fingering weight yarn on 2.25mm needles (US 1). This pattern is written as a toe-up sock with a split gusset, an Eye of Partridge heel flap, lace paneling, and a 1x1 rib with a tubular bind-off.

Shakespeare’s Cressida in Troilus and Cressida inspired the feminine lace panels in the Cressid Socks. Delicate lace winds up the leg like shifting loyalties and promises, while the clean, modern lines of the toe-up construction echo Cressida’s quiet strength and complicated heart.
