This pattern is available for free.

This pattern is for a very unique kind of owl hat. It utilizes the crocodile stitch to make the hat appear to have feathers, and features two big eyes, a cute little beak, and some ear tassels for fun!

The sizing of the pattern is for toddlers and kids. The hat is made in a larger than normal size for this age group, but that is intended to keep the crocodile stitches from spreading. (You want to see your cute stitches, not your kids forehead!) You can use a true worsted weight yarn (such as Vanna’s Choice) and the hat would be big enough to fit a young adult.

You’ll need two skeins of yarn (one variegated, one solid) and bits of white, black, and orange or yellow yarn for the eyes and beak.

I hope you enjoy this pattern! I’m looking forward to seeing lots of little owls running around!
