Each year, there is a challenge project created especially for one of the two big sled dog races. The 2020 project is in honor of the Yukon Quest.

The 2020 Sled Dog Race Challenge is a scarf or cowl that celebrates the skill and athleticism of the mushers and their amazing dogs as well as honoring our own canine and feline companions.

The 2020 scarf/cowl has aspects of the wide frozen rivers down which the teams travel, as well as those bodies of water that have not yet frozen and are waving on the shores as the teams pass by. There are waves, both gentle and surging, fish, and lots and lots of paw prints. You can choose from cat or dog paw prints or alternate and have some of both. Knitter’s choice!

For those who love beads, there are beads in this pattern. For those who prefer their projects beadless, there is a beadless option.
