This project for the 2022 sled dog races is full of all the good things from the races and our fur companions. Seeing the aurora, racing beside the rivers and seas, and running side by side in joyous abandonment are all part of the fun of sled dog racing. Add to that watching the joy of the dogs running and your heart will be filled with love for all our canine and feline companions.

This cowl and scarf pattern is made up of sections so you can pick and choose those you want to work into your accessory. If you prefer cats, rather than dogs, you can leave out the dog sections and add more of the Pawprints on Your Heart section. Whatever you choose, you will be wrapping yourself in the warmth of your fur companions whenever you wear your completed project.

You will need a maximum of 339 yards each of two colors of fingering weight yarn for any of the cowl sizes and 400 yards each of two colors for a scarf that is 60” long. This is a great stash busting project where you can use one main color throughout changing the contrasting color in each section to use up smaller amounts of yarn. The pattern is in easy mosaic knitting, so you use only one color of yarn per row and there are no knitting gymnastics involved.
