This is an adaption of the corner to corner blanket with a couple twists. The basic pattern, (lavender picture), repeats alternating rows of garter and Irish ribbing blocks, while the Pizzazz option starts the same but adds color interest at the center.

The basic blanket was knit in Caron Simply soft (3 skeins, worsted weight) on size 7 needles. The gauge is 11 stitches and 11 rows in garter for each 3 inches. The finished blanket is also 32” square.

The pizzazzy blanket was born out of a yarn management issue. Like all CTC blankets, you must reserve half your yarn for the second half of the blanket. I started a basic blanket with 6 skeins of orange yarn. After 3 skeins I had completed 8 sections of the ribbing rows, but the length was only 24ish inches. That was much shorter than I wanted. I had additional Snuggly yarn in the other colors, so decided to work them into the design by adding some garter rows and a center design row. I used less than a skein of both the blue and white for the center. I’m very happy with the result.

With either blanket, please read the instructions carefully on yarn management as the center of the blanket is in the middle of a design row.
