Cheerful coloured blocks form socks which look different from every angle you look at them. They can be worked in a set colour scheme as shown above or using as many different colours as there are blocks for a unique pair of socks.

The socks are worked from the cuff down with a heel flap and gusset, mainly using an intarsia in the round technique. A tutorial is included in the pattern and lets you confidently try out intarsia in the round for this manageable project.

Sizes
Women’s S, M and L to fit leg circumference 17.5 (20, 22.5) cm 7 (7.75, 8.75)”. Leg length to the heel results in 17.25 cm 6.75” and foot length 22.25 (23.75, 25) cm 8.75 (9.25, 9.75)” when knit as given in the pattern. Both lengths are adjustable.

Yarn
Five 25 g skeins of a fingering weight yarn with a yardage of approximately 400 m (440 yds) per 100 g
Used in the sample: Cascade Yarns Heritage in #5615 Royal (A), #5715 Avocado (B), #5630 Anis (C), #5627 Jade (D), #5850 Lavender (E)

While the pattern is written for five colours and to create a matching pair of socks, it is also a great stashbuster for leftover sock yarn scraps, since each block requires less than 5 g (20 m / 22 yds) of yarn. It is possible to use as many colours as there are blocks.

Needles
2.5 mm / US size 1 1/2 DPNs or circular needle(s) for your preferred way to knit in the round.
Please note: While the pattern can be worked on one needle using the Magic Loop technique, I recommend to use DPNs or two short circular needles. Right side and wrong side rounds do not start in the same position, so using more than one needle is the most comfortable way to easily change from one starting point to the other.

Notions
2 stitch markers, darning needle

Gauge 32 sts /44 rounds = 10 cm/4” in Stockinette stitch after blocking
