So what does Curl of the Burl mean? It typically refers to a set of events that come full circle. A knot that’s found in various trees is also referred to as the burl. Within the burl are unique swirls or curls that results in a unique design. The Curl of the Burl is a great song by the band, Mastodon. All of these references inspired the name of this pattern.

This super bulky weight cowl is knit flat and closed with the kitchener stitch on size 17 needles. Each section has a different stitch pattern (stockinette, reverse stockinette, seed) with just enough variety to keep your interest. The cowl is knit flat using a provisional cast-on and closed with the kitchener stitch. This stash busting project can be knit in a few hours and is perfect for gifting.
