Cwtch, pronounced “kutch,” is Welsh for cuddle. The Cwtch Hat is a cozy beanie designed for a fun pompom! Its folded brim brings extra warmth, like a cuddle around your ears. Style with a removable pompom to switch up the look from day to day. It features an adjustable length and circumference to fit your preferences.

MATERIALS + SIZING

YARN
Malabrigo Rios in Sand Bank: 1 (2, 2, 2) skeins, or approx 205 (236, 270, 306) yds/187 (216, 247, 280) m of worsted weight yarn

NEEDLES
• US 6/4.0 mm circular needle, 16”/40 cm long
• US 7/4.5 mm circular needle, 16”/40 cm long, plus double-pointed needles, second circular, or longer circular (for Magic Loop) for crown
or size needed to obtain gauge and one size smaller

NOTIONS
• cable needle
• 1 stitch marker, plus 2 optional markers to mark the cable panel

GAUGE
24 sts x 30 rounds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch on larger needle worked in the round, blocked

34 sts x 30 rounds = 4”/10 cm in cable pattern (refer to Chart or the cable portion of Rounds 1-12 in the written instructions) on larger needle worked in the round, blocked

Cable (30 sts) = 3.5 in/9 cm wide

Recommended to be worn with 1”/2.5 cm negative ease at hat circumference. Model is wearing a size 2 with 1.5”/4 cm negative ease.

Adjust the ribbing length by working fewer or more Ribbing rounds. Adjust the body length by working fewer or more Body rounds. Adjust the hat circumference by casting on fewer or more stitches in multiples of 4.

NOTES
• This hat is worked in the round, bottom up. The stockinette portion of the hat is adjustable; the cable section remains the same for all sizes.
• To make bobble (mb), knit into front, back, and front of next st, (turn, k3) x 3, turn, sl1, k2tog, psso.
