Terminology: US crochet terms

Skill level: Confident Beginner / Intermediate

Gauge/Tension: Each embossed flower square should measure 3 inches by 3 inches (7.52 cm by 7.52 cm). Adjust hook size if needed.

Yarn: I used Stylecraft Aran, but any similar Aran weight yarn will work.

Hook size: Recommended 5 mm for Stylecraft Aran. I used a 4 mm hook for a denser fabric, and I’ve also made this hat with a 2.5 mm hook.

Colours: The sample hat used 12 different colours! This project is a wonderful stash-buster. The flowers can be a bit yarn-hungry, so mix and match however you like and have fun experimenting with colour combinations.

Notions: Yarn needle (bodkin), scissors, pom-pom maker (optional)

Notes:
I crochet tightly for a dense fabric, so adjust your hook size if your squares measure differently. Sew in your ends as you go for a neater finish.
