Christmas is coming, and this one will stop small people in their tracks. The Dachshund in the Snow Cardigan is a cosy, wintry knit featuring a sweet dachshund playing in the snow, worked in soft DK yarn and sized for ages 1 to 11 years.

Sizes: Ages 1-2y, 2-3y, 4-5y, 6-7y, 8-9y, 10-11y. Skill level: confident beginner. Yarn weight: DK.

The cardigan is knitted top-down in one piece, so there’s no seaming to worry about. The dachshund is formed from simple intarsia panels that are knitted separately and sewn on to complete the look. Clear, straightforward instructions mean you’ll be casting off before you know it.

Yarn: King Cole Merino Blend DK, 100% Pure New Superwash, 104m / 113y per 50g ball

Yarn requirements:
Yarn A (1531) Pale Blue: 2, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 balls;
Yarn B (1) White: 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3 balls;
Yarn C (3089) Chestnut: 1 ball all sizes;
Yarn D (9) Red: 1 ball all sizes;
Yarn E (48) Black: 1 ball all sizes

Needles:
3.25mm circular needle 60-80cm long; 4mm circular needle 60-80cm long; 3.25mm double-pointed needles or 60-80cm circular for Magic Loop method

Also needed:
4 stitch markers
scrap yarn or stitch holders
5 x 2cm assorted clear buttons
small amount of toy stuffing (optional)

Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows to 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in) over stocking stitch using 4mm needles
