By Naomi Fox These adorable socks were inspired by two Dachshund friends of mine, Archie and Lyra. You can of course choose any colour combination to represent your own dogs. The technique is stranded colourwork .
MATERIALS
Yarn: MC: S (M) L – 44g/ 176 (50g / 200m) 56g / 224m of 4 ply sock yarn
CC2 cuff and toe: 20g / 80m of 4 ply sock yarn I used
CC3 main dog body: 20g / 80m of 4 ply sock yarn I used brown
CC4 ear and feet detail: a few grams for the duplicate stitch detail around the ears and feet
2.25mm circular needles or dpns
2.5mm circular needles or dpns
Any fingering weight sock yarn can be used for this sock pattern. Sample shown is knit in size 2 for foot length Europe 39, US 8.5, UK 6, foot circumference 22.5cm / 8.8”.

ABBREVIATIONS
k-knit
p-purl
BOR – beginning of round
Sl1 = Slip one stitch purlwise from the left hand needle to the right hand needle.
SSK= Slip one stitch knitwise, slip nxt stitch knitwise, knit slipped stitches together.
p2tog = Purl 2 stitches together
k2tog = Knit 2 stitches together
BOR= Beginning of the round.
PM = Place Marker.
rep = repeat
rnd = Round
dec = dec´d
inc´d = increased
MC = Main Colour
CC = Contrast Colour
CO = Cast On
Rnd – round
SIZES
SMALL - Foot circumference 7-8 inches
MEDIUM - Foot circumference 8-9 inches
LARGE - Foot circumference 9-10 inches
Sizes are written in pattern instructions as follows S (M) L . It is helpful to go through the pattern before you start knitting and circle the relevant size whenever there are bracketed instructions and make a note of the chart size corresponding to your size
