PATTERN AND SIZING NOTES

  • This round crochet placemat pattern is made in one piece in the round with joined rows.
  • You must have knowledge of making circles with increases, joining rows with slip stitches, single crochet, double crochet and triple crochet.
  • For this pattern, I do an invisible DC join in the round. Instructions will be given more thoroughly for this within the pattern, but essentially the first ST in every round after you SL ST to join that last round, will be comprised of a ‘Mimic DC’ which is a SC in to the ST and then a CH 1. This mimic combination and makes the join less visible.
  • The way I’ve written this pattern, I’m writing the STAGERRING of the increases right in to the pattern so that the placemat appears more round and doesn’t have angles where the increases are. This is why the increases appear in a different place in each round.
  • The size of this is customizable, simply add or subtract rounds to your liking.
  • This modern crochet placemat pattern can be used for other purposes as well, you can use it as a table centerpiece mat or a modern doily.
  • The stitch count is given in parentheses ( ) at the end of each round.
