Daisy chain socks were inspired by those long lazy summer evenings and will bring back those delightful memories long after summer has gone! The socks combine fun but simple floral colourwork with stockinette stitch sections for quick knitting. The socks also have an optional lace ruffle which is added at the end for an extra flirty summer look!

The pattern includes instructions for three sizes:
S: 56st cuff – EU36-38 / UK 3-5
M: 64st cuff – EU39-42 / UK 5.5-7
L: 72st cuff – EU41-44 / UK 7.5-10

Each size with a standard or extra roomy heel option.

Foot length can be adjusted to fit your foot exactly by performing more or fewer rounds of plain stockinette stitch before knitting the toe.

(Photos show socks knitted in size S on size EU38 feet.)

This is an intermediate pattern, suitable for bold beginners upwards. Some experience of knitting stranded colourwork would be useful.

Daisy chain socks are worked cuff down in the round with a colour work section on the ankle, a shadow wrap heel, a simple stockinette foot section with colour work at the toe. The remaining toe stitches are then seamed using Kitchener stitch. Both socks are worked alike. The ruffle is then added at the end if desired by picking up and working sts around the ankle.

Needles: 2.25mm 9” circular needles OR 2.25mm larger circular needles for magic loop method OR 2.25mm double pointed needles (or size to meet gauge).

Yarn:
Main colour (with ruffles): approx. 36-68 g / 144-272m / 158-298 yards of 4ply sock yarn
Main colour (without ruffles): approx. 32-60 g / 128-240m / 140-263 yards of 4ply sock yarn
Contrast colour 1 (for heel, toe & colour work): approx. 15-30g / 60-120m / 66-132 yards of 4ply sock yarn
Contrast colour 2 (for colour work): approx. 3-6g / 16-24m / 18-27 yards of 4ply sock yarn

NOTE: Exact yarn requirements will depend on the size knitted and your tension. If you plan to increase the foot or ankle length you will also need more main colour and contrast colour 1 yarn.

Sample socks shown are knitted using Fyberspates CoopKnits Socks Yeah! 4 ply in shade 122 - Quartz for the main colour, shade 130 – Carnelian for contrast colour 1 and shade 102 – Ammolite for contrast colour 2.

Notions: scissors, 2x stitch markers (one different to mark beginning of round), tapestry needle, tape measure

Gauge: 30 stitches and 48 rows for a 10x10cm square in stockinette stitch.
