One of my favourite things about being a knitter is the ability to whip up personalized handmade gifts - and my favourites are quick to make and easy to choose the perfect size for any recipient. The handmade winter hat is a classic that is easy to love, and this one comes in seven sizes for every head on your list. Personalize this classic favourite with a pom pom (handmade or faux fur) and with or without the furry trim. Make a matching set for family photos or holiday outings. A generous skein of the recommended yarn, Scarfie, will get you at least two or three hats, which also makes this a great project for holiday craft markets. The hat is worked seamlessly from the bottom up, starting with the ear flaps, then adding stitches for the front and back and working the body in the round. After decreasing for the crown, optional furry trim and/or a pom pom can be added as a final touch. For a knitted version of this hat, check out my design Into The Snow.

Important note about this piece: As shown in the photos, this hat was worked wrong-side out. I found as I worked that I preferred the look of the inside of the hdc in the round, so I flipped it before finishing with fur trim.
