Delighted to share the Dark Woods scarf pattern with you! This pattern includes clear written instructions and links to video tutorials to guide you through every step. Most of the design is worked from charts.

The Dark Woods scarf is inspired by European folklore, with a strong Slavic influence. It’s created using double knitting. This technique produces fully reversible colourwork without floats, with the colours inverted on each side. This pattern includes the option to knit a section of the scarf with a different image on each side; an old and a young witch.

When worn, the left and right sides align, tying the dark woods in the night together as a whole.

This is a piece for knitters who love intricate colourwork and storytelling through design.

I used:

  • approximately 700-750m of fingering weight wool (PRU yarns SOUL fingering) in the colour Oh Happy Grey
  • approximately 700-750m of fingering weight wool (PRU yarns SOUL fingering) in the colour Atlantic
  • 2 pairs of 2.0mm (US size 0) knitting needles
  • tapestry needle
  • scissors
  • tension ring (optional)
