Date Night At The Opera is inspired by my love of Regency era romance novels. Wearing shawls is often mentioned in these books and this shawl is a tribute to what I imagine my favourite heroines wearing when they dazzle the dashing lord.

It is a bias-knit triangle. You start working the shawl at one tip, then increase along the top edge, and finally bind off the side opposite the cast on tip. The textured body and the beaded lace panel are worked at the same time.

Have you ever wanted to try knitting with beads?

The shawl comes in three variations:

  • Option 1 - Beadless - If beads are not your thing, you can absolutely make this shawl without them.
  • Option 2 - The Original - There are beads added to the lace panel. Do not be afraid if this is your first beaded project. It was mine, too. ;-)
  • Option 3 - Extra Bling - The knot stitch on the body is replaced with beads.

Instructions are both charted and fully written.

Needle: 4 mm / US 6 circular needle 100 cm / 40’’

Other Notions: size 6/0 beads (190 pcs), crochet hook 0.75 mm or dental floss, 2 stitch markers, darning needle for weaving in loose ends

Techniques: Knit & purl, increases, decreases, attaching beads

The pattern has been tech edited and test knitted.
