Dauerwelle (the German name means continuous wave, but also stands for a perm) is a small shawl with a continuous mosaic pattern, worked from side to side. The size of the elongated triangle is variable and can be adapted to individual wishes or the amount of yarn available.

You will need two strong contrasting colors; the yarn shouldn’t be thinner than fingering. A color gradient as a base is always a good idea, of course. But the clear graphic pattern would also look good in plain black and white. I would not recommend variegated yarn, because this would disturb the overall look and distract from the pattern.

Die Dauerwelle ist ein Halstuch mit durchgehendem Mosaikmuster, das von Seite zu Seite gearbeitet wird. Die Größe des langgezogenen Dreiecks ist variabel und lässt sich an die individuellen Wünsche oder die vorhandene Wollmenge anpassen.

Benötigt werden zwei gut kontrastierende Farben in Sockengarnstärke. Ein Farbverlauf als Basis macht sich natürlich immer gut. Aber das klare grafische Muster würde auch in schlichtem Schwarz-Weiß gut aussehen. Meliertes Garn würde ich nicht empfehlen, da sonst das Gesamtbild zu unruhig wird.
