This little lacy slouch was inspired by the Panic! At the Disco music video for the song ‘Death of a Bachelor’ (which you should definitely check out here ). The music video is very classy and is in black and white, hence my colour choices for this piece.

Bring out your inner romantic with this charmer, with its easy lace and easy finishing. Don’t be intimidated by the lace, which is very basic, and is brought to life by careful blocking once the knitting is done. I have included instructions for my blocking method for this hat, as it worked spectacularly well.

I used a few meters of a sparkly crochet yarn for the first row of the ribbing, and the rest of the hat was made using a 100% merino fingering weight yarn. You could splash out a little and use a luxurious yarn for the body, as long as it is mainly one colour, and has good stitch definition.

So knit this understated piece to bring a little class and romance into your knitting, maybe at the expense of the death of a bachelor ;)
