This Beanie is can be adapted to fit any size head. It is cushy and amazing.

It uses about 50 grams each of two contrasting colored yarns.

The gauge is not critical in this project, as you work the brim across until you have a comfortable size for your head, and then pick up stitches for the upper part of the beanie.

Size 8 needles work exceptionally with DK or Worsted weight yarn on this, but you could adapt this pattern to any yarn or any needle.

If you work with fingering weight yarn, you would want to work the directions for the larger brim and you would end up with a very nice sized brim.

Named for the Rene Descartes, the discoverer of coordinates, this cushy Brioche hat was created as a great first brioche project for the adventurous learner.

The pattern will help you to learn to work brioche both in the flat, and in the round. The brim is started with a provisional cast-on. It is completed with a Kitchener stitch. This creates a horizontal brioche brim. You then pick up stitches along the edge and start working brioche in the round. This creates a vertical brioche effect.

The combination of horizontal and vertical reminds me of longitude and latitude, hence the name! These lines create a beautiful project. Bonus, this hat is completely reversible and can be done in multiple textures! There is no shaping at the top, so you can feel free to stop the hat as soon as it is a size you love. Use 2 colors, or use 4 colors for a really unique hat! This hat comes with smaller or larger brim options.
