DevDav sweater
The DevDav sweater is a design that requires the knitter to know only a few techniques. You need to be able to decrease by knitting stitches together and increase using backward loop, M1L, and M1R. You also need to be able to knit and purl stitches. And BO loosely…
The DevDav sweater has both a vertical knitting direction and horizontal knitting directions. Hence the name. DevDav is an abbreviation for “Den ene vej, den anden vej.” And “Den ene vej, den anden vej” means “one way, another way.”
First, the DevDav is worked from sleeve to sleeve. The neckline is shaped along the way. Then the funnel neck is worked vertically
Stitches are picked up for the split rib at the bottom of the body. After the side seams are crocheted together, so it is not entirely seamless.
The pattern includes a resources section with links to the few techniques used, and tips are provided throughout on how, for example, the length can be adjusted. It is recommended that the sweater has 30 cm of positive ease, which is especially important if the bust is large, as some of the front length will otherwise be taken up.
The smallest sizes use 5 skeins of Lieve, and the larger sizes use 6 and 7 respectively. If the length and width are increased or decreased, this will affect the amount of yarn required.
It is not recommended to replace the yarn with alternatives that are heavy, such as alpaca. It will pull the model out of shape.
