This hat style is half-way between a beanie and a beret. I want a hat that can fully cover my hair, stays on, has plenty of room for a bun or ponytail bundled up underneath and is lightweight. This one checks all the boxes!

It has a lot of stretch because of the dense fabric knitted up on US1’s. The cable when first knitted up has about 2” of negative ease, but stretches out easily to the desired size and more.

Designed to be knit on 16” circular needles and then on 2 sets of 16” circulars when you come to the decrease section. But you can just as easily knit it up on dps or magic loop method.

Depending on the make and weight of fingering/sock yarn you use, you might use up more or less yarn - but you won’t use up more that three-quarters of a skein.
