This cowl is perfect for beginning knitters. Its knit in the round on circular needles with a few rows of 2x2 ribbing. But that’s where the ‘beyond the basics’ end. Holding three strands of yarn together is easy and creates bigger stitches that make this project fly off the needles.

This cowl is a simple design with endless yarn possibilities. Holding three strands together not only makes for a quick project but gives the garment the bulky layers that fold on top of each other without having to knit a lot of height.

I’ve suggested a couple of yarns with 50% wool/50% alpaca, both are soft yet still have structure. But many other yarns would be a good substitute. Choose one (or a combination of two or three) that feels good against the skin but has still has structure.
