A quick and easy scarf with a little extra flair for a last minute Xmas gift for my neighbor’s mom.

I used Cascade Yarns superwash Aran Splatter yarn, which is a nice and soft washable yarn, and knits up in lovely muted stripes, which don’t overshadow the pattern of the diagonal eyelets, but any worsted weight yarn can be used, Malabrigo Worsted or Rios being other lovely choices. This pattern could be modified to use any gauge or type of yarn and needle, as desired, for a lighter or thicker scarf. due to the striping nature of this yarn, I started the 2nd skein of yarn from the middle of the skein, so the color variations would be consistent.

My neighbor specifically wanted a short narrow scarf, this one is approximately 5”x 60” but again, the pattern can be adjusted to any length and width you desire, by increasing the repeating pattern by 4 sts, and/or by increasing the border stitches and knitting as short or long as you like.

The scarf is a knit using a diagonal eyelet stitch, bordered by seed stitch. Feel free to substitute garter stitch in the borders for a different look. In that case, knit all border stitches on top and bottom, and on edge borders.
