In the original rainbow Pride Flag created in 1978, there were 8 stripes that each had a specific meaning, the violet stripe represents spirt. When working on this design the phase a diamond in the rough kept coming to mind, so I thought I would very literally interpret the phase into a sock pattern. This lace repeat is charted and has written instructions to accommodate each learning style. Video tutorials are also provided for the cast on and grafting of the toe.

Sizing

Choose the size that gives you 1-2” of negative ease.
Sizing is based on the circumference of the foot, not the length. To figure out the length of foot you need to knit, use the row gauge to calculate the number of rounds you will need to knit for your foot size subtracting 1.25”(1.25”,1.5”) for the toe, or try your sock on as you go!

S(M,L) – Circumference 8-9”(9-10”, 10-11”)

Bad Amy Knits, Uberviolet, Sock Base: 80% Superwash Merino Wool/ 20% Nylon 400 yards, 100 g.

Suggested Needle

US 2 (2.75 mm)- 32” circular
I am a tight knitter and I’ve found that most knitters match my gauge by sizing down one needle size from my recommendation.

Construction Notes

• The Dimond motif is knit mirrored on the left and right so instructions are specific to each sock.
• The pattern is written for magic loop where stitches are split evenly between two needles.
• Top-down construction.
• Slip stitch heel flap and gusset.
• Basic rounded toe that uses Kitchener stitch to graft live stitches.
