This is a hat knit bottom up using knit, purl, yarn overs, and decreases to create a diamond pattern surrounded by zig zags.

One skein of Cascade 220 Superwash will be sufficient to knit the hat and a gauge swatch. If you are knitting the matching cowl you will need 2 skeins because the cowl will use up just about one skein of yarn by itself.
