For this pattern I have used a DK yarn which I have then doubled up using two strands held together, you could use a single strand of a bulkier yarn or even a super chunky yarn. The thicker yarn creates more structure to the body of the hat and will also make the finished hat a lot warmer.

The body of the hat is worked in a spiral, top-down and then the tail is worked directly off the main body flat as one piece.

You will need:

Crochet Hooks – depending on you yarn weight but somewhere between 4.5mm- 5mm should work for most doubled up DK yarns

Yarn - colour and weight of your choice – approximately 150g for the main colour and 50g for the contrasting colour

A yarn needle
