For this pattern I have used a DK yarn which I have then doubled up using two strands held together, you could use a single strand of a bulkier yarn or even a super chunky yarn (you wouldn’t need nearly as much yardage if you did this). The thicker yarn creates more structure to the body of the hat and will also make the finished hat a lot warmer.

The band of the hat is worked in the flat and joined before the body of the hat is worked in the round.

The main body of the hat is worked as a spiral

You will need:

  • Crochet Hooks – depending on you yarn weight but somewhere between 5mm- 8mm should work for most yarns
  • Yarn colour and weight of your choice – approximately 200g in total. (For this pattern the hat band and Pom-Pom are created in colour A – approx. 80g, and the main slouched body in colour B – approx. 100g)
  • A yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch Markers
  • Tape Measure
  • Pom-Pom Maker (or other Pom-Pom making method)
