Being a graduate student at George Washington University, I was routinely amazed by all of the beautiful architecture in downtown Washington, DC. From the historic building to the gorgeous monuments, I wanted to capture all of that into my hobby of knitting. With a little help from my fellow labmates, the District of Cowlumbia was born!

This is a (mainly) stranded colorwork knit in the round cowl with a brief section of intarsia knitting (I am talking like 8 rows). It is perfect for getting your feet wet with intarsia style knitting.

Requiring 100 yards/92 meters of the main color (black in sample) and 125 yards/115 meters for the contrast color (brown and green speckled cream), it is a perfect project for leftover DK/Worsted Weight Yarn!

Construction Info:
MC (For Buildings) 100 yards of DK or worsted weight yarn
CC (For “Sky”) 125 yards of DK of worsted weight yarn

Size US 5 (4 mm) 24”/60cm circular needles for main body and ribbed edging

(Optional) Size US 6 (5 mm) 24”/60cm circular needles for stranded colorwork (if you happen to knit tight)
