For the month of July, I decided to highlight one of the greatest female scientists in history. This month’s cowl is inspired by Rosalind Elise Franklin, born on July 25, 1920. Franklin was a chemist in London, and she was central to discovering the double helix structure of DNA. She was largely unacknowledged for this discovery in her lifetime but received credit after her death. Additionally, she made critical discoveries in the structure of the tobacco mosaic virus and paved the way for polio virus research before her death from ovarian cancer at age 37.

This cowl has the left-handed double helix structure in colorwork cables to honor her 100th birthday this year. It is a perfect cowl for the socks sets that you may want to use on something other than socks!
