These mitts are meant to be a companion to the Divergence Hat which was originally designed to be knit with DK-weight yarn, but is being released parallel to the mitts in a fingering-weight version.

The knitting starts with twisted rib and then the rest of the pattern is charted, included the thumb and its gusset. The right and left hands are interchangeable.

Due to the relatively large pattern repeat, I chose to approach sizing by simply changing needles sizes. That said, the fabric created by the twisted-rib background is nice and stretchy so, in the end, it’s all about how you like the look of your gauge in whatever yarn you choose..

I used seed beads (14) for my versions and they gave just enough bling without being overpowering or getting in the way of functionality. If you don’t like beads, simply leave them off or find another way of bringing out that center stitch. One option would be to wrap it with the same yarn or even another color. Be creative and make them your own!

For S/M/L you will need approximately 150/155/160 meters of fingering-weight yarn respectively. The smallest size should fit an older child, but it is stretchy enough that it fits the average adult hand nice and snug.
